Coast Guard Mutual Assistance

The CGMA aims to help you with everyday essentials, covering emergencies, housing, education, medical, and other financial needs during your times of need.

If the active duty member is not available, the spouse will need a power of attorney or a CGMA-16 Pre-Authorization Form

 

They can provide unexpected financial help with:​

  • Adoption assistance

  • Baby supplies

  • Breast milk shipment reimbursement

  • Budget counseling and debt management counseling

  • Disaster assistance

  • Education programs

  • Emergency home or vehicle repair

  • Emergency travel

  • Financial Resilience

  • Housing needs

  • Needs arising from pay, allotment, and travel claim problems

  • PCS Support

  • Unanticipated medical bills

  • Unexpected financial needs and personal loss

We prevent short-term financial issues from becoming long-term problems by providing interest-free loans and grants to the Coast Guard community.

CGMA is the official relief society of the US Coast Guard. While CGMA works closely with the Coast Guard, it is an independent nonprofit charitable organization. Established and operated by Coast Guard people for Coast Guard people, CGMA provides a way to extend compassion to one another in times of need. It serves as a vital financial safety net, promoting financial stability and general wellbeing, fostering high morale, and encouraging a sense of loyalty to the Coast Guard.
